Accelerated BSN program
Embarking on a journey to become a nurse is both exciting and life changing. At the Orvis School of Nursing, our accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is designed for students who are ready to dive into an intensive 16-month pathway to achieve their nursing goals. Students can complete their degree program at the main Reno campus or with a focus on rural healthcare at the Lake Tahoe campus.
Admission requirements
To be eligible to apply, applicants must meet all of the following requirements.
- Be admitted to the Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV for the term in which you are applying;
- Submit all official transcripts to the University’s Office of Admissions and Records; and
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.8 in required coursework (see below).
- Required coursework: Requires minimum grade of C.
- Additional prerequisite coursework: Requires minimum grade of C-.
- Earn a minimum score of 65 percent on the ATI TEAS exam, taken within one year prior to application. The exam measures academic readiness in reading, mathematics, science and English.

Accelerated BSN application process
Ready to get started? Follow these steps to apply to the accelerated BSN program at the Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV.
Step 1: Complete prerequisite courses
Complete required coursework with a minimum grade of C and additional prerequisite coursework with a minimum grade of C-.
- Review the list of required courses and ensure you meet the requirements.
- Plan your schedule to complete any outstanding prerequisites.
Note: You can have up to 16 credits in progress when you apply, with no more than four science credits pending.
Step 2: Apply to the University (if not currently enrolled)
Apply to the University for the semester in which you are applying. For example, if applying for the Spring 2027 semester, student must be admitted to the University for Fall 2026 because Fall 2026 is when the nursing application for Spring 2027 is being completed.
Step 3: Take the TEAS exam
Complete the ATI TEAS exam with a minimum score of 65%. This must be taken within one year before your application date.
- Register for the TEAS exam through the ATI website.
- Choose "ATI Remote Proctor – Nursing" and select your test date.
- After completing the exam, request to have your transcript sent to "U of NV Reno" via your ATI student account.
- Prepare to meet or exceed the score requirement.
Note: You may take the TEAS exam twice per application cycle, with the most recent score considered.
Step 4: Nursing Professional Attribute Development
- Review Professional Attributes
- Reflect on current attributes and possible areas for development
- Complete worksheets as an organizational tool
Step 5: Submit your Orvis School of Nursing application
Complete and submit your nursing program application within the application period.
- Submission of transcripts to both the Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV and NursingCAS is required.
- Complete and * within the application period (fee required).
- Applicants will need to create an account and then filter to add the Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV nursing program.
*Search for "University of Nevada" in the NursingCAS system.
The baccalaureate degree program in nursing, master's degree program in nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice program, and post-graduate APRN certificate program at Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV Orvis School of Nursing are accredited by the .
