Taking the first steps: Introducing AI to the University community

Teaching and learning

Through collaborative efforts, Advancements in Teaching Excellence, University Libraries, and Office of Information Technology are creating additional resources, workshops and tools so scholars can integrate AI into their classrooms and scholarship.

Research

The Office of Research and Innovation will provide opportunities for University of Nevada faculty to share their expertise in AI to expand efforts to enhance research across disciplines.

Operations

The University is integrating artificial intelligence software into our day-to-day business processes, such as data systems, to build efficiencies and explore the possibilities AI presents to improve the University's operational effectiveness.

AI in student devices

First-year and transfer students will have access to Microsoft Copilot Chat and Apple Intelligence on their iPads through the Digitial Wolf Pack Initiative.

NevadaFIT integration

First-year students are required to complete an AI learning module that discusses ethics and the use of AI, provides guidance on the use of AI in their coursework, and reviews the University's policy on AI and academic integrity.

New AI certificate

Nevada Online is developing a three-course online certificate in AI that serves as an introduction to AI, ethics in AI and practical applications in AI. This program will be open to all students.
