Summary
Elena Tchigriaeva is the assistant dean for administration in the College of Engineering at the Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV. In this role, she provides oversight of the college’s strategic, financial and operational planning and decision-making processes. The position collaborates closely with senior university leaders to ensure that operational goals, strategies and activities align with the university’s mission, strategic plan and the needs of students and the broader community. Tchigriaeva also serves as the fiscal officer for the College of Engineering.
Tchigriaeva holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration (high distinction), with a major in accounting. She also holds a Master of Science in economics from the Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV. Her academic focus included quantitative data analysis and taxation policy. During her graduate studies, she worked under the supervision of professors Kim Rollins and Sonja Pippin and co-authored several conference proceedings with them.
Tchigriaeva is a graduate of the Kolmogorov School of Physics and Mathematics in Moscow and later pursued studies in cybernetics and automated systems at the Russian Technological University in Moscow. Her professional background includes service as a chief accountant, financial director and junior partner in private companies in Moscow. She brings more than a decade of experience in the Reno area, including roles as an investment plan manager at a financial consulting firm, an accountant in the Nevada State Treasurer’s Office and various fiscal and accounting positions at the Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV, including within the Research & Innovation unit and the College of Engineering.
Tchigriaeva is committed to continuing the legacy of her late husband, Ilya Zaliapin, Trevor J. McMinn Endowed Research and Emeritus Professor of Statistics. In his honor, she established a scholarship to support first-time conference travel for students in the Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
