Robotics involves designing, building and operating intelligent machines capable of performing tasks autonomously or semi-autonomously in diverse environments. Advances in computing, sensing technologies, electronic systems and mechanical design have made robots versatile and essential for applications such as manufacturing automation, medical assistance, precision agriculture, disaster response, environmental monitoring and more.
The robotics minor at the Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV provides you with foundational knowledge and hands-on skills needed for success in this dynamic field. This interdisciplinary program draws from Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering to offer a broad base in robotics technologies, systems integration and real-world applications.

The objective of this interdisciplinary minor is to provide students with the skills and experience to apply what they learn in their major toward solving robotics engineering challenges.
Robotics technology is increasingly important and accessible. Thanks to advances in component cost, open-source software and interdisciplinary tools, many industries — manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture, environmental science, logistics and more — are using robotics in transformative ways.
Nevada and the broader region offer growing opportunities for robotics innovation, design and deployment in both academic and industry settings. Students who complete the robotics minor will be well-positioned to enter the workforce in roles such as robotics design, software/hardware development, control and sensing systems or to continue their training at the graduate level.

Computer science and engineering is a dynamic discipline that brings together theory, abstraction and design of computing devices, programs and systems to solve a variety of problems in just about all areas of human endeavor.
A degree in electrical engineering prepares students to develop solutions to urgent problems in areas including generating and regulating electric power supplied to the home, manipulating signals for communication purposes, and designing specialized circuits.
Mechanical engineering is a broad field that includes everything from aerospace engineering to fluid mechanics to biomedical applications. Mechanical engineers may work with nanoscale materials invisible to all but the most powerful microscopes or they may design massive airplanes or rockets, but they all share a focus on engineering moving systems.
