The Latino Research Center invites you to join the campus community for the public unveiling of Raíces Brillantes [Brilliant Roots], the vibrant, new mural created by esteemed local artist, Edwin Martinez-Escobar. This mural project was entirely community-sponsored, through foundations and generous community members, to help create a space for celebration of heritage, hope, and a sense of home in Nevada.

This unveiling is more than a ceremonial moment – it’s an invitation to connect, reflect and celebrate. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the artist, hear about the inspiration behind the piece and become part of the community’s ongoing story.

Generous support from the following community sponsors made this project possible, as follows:
NV Energy Foundation, Corwin Buick GMC, James & Diana Sande, The Cain Family, Courageous Corazón Foundation, Ron Aryel & Stacey Knobler, Juana Reynoza-Gómez, Ivet Contreras, Gaby Moreno, and Robert Glenn.

Each of these partners has played a pivotal role in bringing Raíces Brillantes to life—transforming a shared vision into a beautiful reality that now enriches the campus.

Mark your calendars for September 15, 2025, from 5 -7 p.m. to join us at Edmund J. Cain Hall, Suite 100/Lecture Room 103 for the unveiling experience.

Be part of the moment when Raíces Brillantes shines in the community as a living testament to unity, resilience and a demonstration of the long-standing contributions among Latinos/Hispanics in Nevada. Your presence will add to the richness of this shared experience.
